The Prince of Deep Within by Mary Clark Dalton is a great fantasy-adventure story for those just learning to read chapter books.

Is it a dream or is it real? You decide!
I read this book and it was so beautiful. It’s about a cute but strong Caterpillar named Rainbow that has been waiting a long time to become a butterfly. One day he decides to stop being sad and impatient and begins to help others and find the fun in each moment. Definitely a great story and adventure for children to read but also a book every age can enjoy
This is a delightful story about friendship and lessons learned while growing up. It is beautifully illustrated as well! Inspirational for aspiring young writers and artists. Highly recommended for all ages!
Perhaps upon graduation, or maybe on your wedding day, or with the birth of a child, you thought you’d arrived—and then found that another journey had just begun. So it is with Rainbow—after all, what does a butterfly need besides wings? And what wings these are, bigger than his dad’s, and glowing with the vibrant colors of Queen Alexandra’s side of the family!
And yet, Rainbow’s dad counsels patience and daily practice, requisites for true competence. Despite his initial impatience and the overconfidence that stems from lack of experience, Rainbow displays a teachable spirit. It is this patience and teachableness that Dalton wishes to instil in her grandson, and in all the children who read her stories.
Rainbow Learns to Fly, the second book in the Rainbow series, builds on the lessons of patience, self-acceptance and helpfulness presented in Rainbow’s Promise. Rainbow is “human” enough to make mistakes, but wise enough to learn from them—and we hope the children who read his stories will also learn from Rainbow’s experiences.
Though fiction, The Cloud is a contemporary real to life story about a troubled teen facing real life choices. He is battling between good and evil. It’s a battle for his soul. The pain he is feeling is raw and real. He feels as if his life is hopeless and he has made up his mind; his intent is evil. But through divine intervention and the power of prayer, his life is changed forever.
This is a story of forgiveness and hope in the face of hopelessness. It shows that prayer changes things and God is able even when the situation seems impossible.
This would be a great book to use as a teaching tool in a youth group setting.
It’s not fun to be teased because you are “less” than others, and it’s not fun to wait for things to get better, either. But Rainbow doesn’t just wait; he learns. With courage, compassion and ingenuity, he reaches out to those whose predicaments are worse than his own. Then, with his eyes finally off himself, he discovers that the promise made to him has finally come true. What a lesson for children who are disappointed with their current situation, abilities, or achievements! Rainbow did what he could when he could, following his mom’s advice and using his time wisely until he “graduated.” Mary Dalton has presented a strategy for contentment and fulfillment for all of us.
